Friday 18:30 - 20:00
Officer-in-Charge: Lt Ross Walker
Come along and join us!
For Boys in Primary 4, Primary 5 & Primary 6, the Junior Section offers friendship, fun and fellowship every Friday evening between 6.30pm and 8pm.
Boys participate in activities as diverse as arts & crafts, team games, figure marching, the Bible, quizzes and fitness challenges. They can also let off some steam with a kick about of the football and a chance to enjoy their tuck shop!
There is more focus on badgework and achievement in the Junior Section and we follow a badge structure prescribed by the Boys' Brigade nationally. Boys can earn badges in every one of the 3 years they are with us: Target and Bronze in 1st year, Silver in 2nd and Gold in 3rd. This helps us keep a structured programme and develop the Boys' skills throughout the time they have with us.
We take part in Battalion Competitions which include Cross Country Running, General Knowledge Quiz, PT and Bible. We also take part in the Figure Marching competition which in the 2009/10 session we were of such a high standard that we won for the first time since 1993. We have our fingers very firmly crossed that we can repeat this success in this year's competition which will be held in March...
So what's stopping you? Come along and join in the fun any Friday evening between September and May from 6.30pm. Email junior@1stbothwell.org for more details!
NEWS
Figure Marching Competition, Sat 12th March 2011
8 Boys have been advised that they will be involved with this competition. We would be grateful if these 8 could make a particular effort to be along at Junior Section every week between now and the competition to ensure we have a good chance of repeating our winning success from last year!
'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat' Trip, Thurs 28th April 2011
We have organised a trip to see Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Hamilton Townhouse on Thursday 28th April at 7.30pm. Keep on the lookout for further details of this exciting event.
Uniform Reminder
Please be reminded that Boys are equired to be in 'full uniform' the first Friday of every month. This comprises of hat, blue BB polo, blue BB sweater, badges, dark school trousers, dark socks and school shoes. The Captain is committed to ensuring we keep our standards of uniform high in the Junior Section and he will conduct an inspection every first Friday of the month for which points will be awarded to each Boy. Full uniform is also expected for parades and church services.
For the remaining Fridays in the month, the same standard of uniform is required with the exception that we allow Boys not to wear their hat or badges for comfort.
